My interest in Emerging Markets - Eastern Europe, Asia/Oceania, Mid-East, South-America - is to a large degree due to the fact that these markets are characterized by a high degree of short-term changes. Moreover, a management responsibility in these markets requires to be directly involved in the day-to-day operation due to very lean organizational structures. Flexibility in dealing with the markets and customers on the one hand, coupled with a well thought out and focused strategy on the other hand has always proven to be success factors; and that is what makes the emerging markets so attractive to me.
I am offering my knowledge and experience from over 30 years of global business as a Business Consultant, as an Interim Manager and as a member of Supervisory Boards. The focus of my activities is on Asia-Pacific, on consumer goods and on business with trade customers. Typical issues I am dealing with are the development of B2C business, especially in Emerging Markets, the Establishment of Sales Companies, Operational Excellence, Restructuring and the elaboration of Sales Strategies.
Every project is characterized with its own specification and challenges. The more important it is that a stable set of values is alive in the background. In my activities these are the following: customer orientation and pragmatism, vision and sustainability, credibility and straightforwardness.
For many years I have carried responsibilities in Senior Management positions in globally engaged corporations, mainly in the consumer goods industry. Even at a fairly young age, I had the privilege to take over management responsibilities as a Marketing Director in the Spanish and in the Japanese Subsidiaries of the Robert Bosch Group. This phase has strongly influenced my professional career and stirred my interest in developing business in new markets. In 1997 I joined the BSH Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances Group in Munich, one of the worldwide leading consumer goods companies. At the beginning I carried the operational responsibility for a number of Sales Regions prior to moving to Singapore where I assumed the position of Managing Director for six years, being responsible for the Region Asia-Pacific. Subsequently, as Vice President Corporate Sales at the Global Headquarter in Munich/Germany, I was in charge of Sales and Distribution Strategies. In this capacity I was also involved in numerous consulting projects apart from being in charge of the Sales Region South-America and Sales to European OEM customers.
Back in 1983 I had completed my academic education with a degree in Business Administration ("Diplom-Kaufmann") at the University of Hamburg/Germany. In 1989/90 I qualified for an 18-month's scholarship program awarded by the European Union and taking place in Tokyo/Japan. Thanks to this full-time language and business training and due to the subsequent years of working in Japan I dispose of a profound knowledge of the Japanese language, business customs and culture. Later, in 2012 I concluded a senior Management Course about Board Membership issues at INSEAD Business School, Fontainebleau with the Certificate in Corporate Governance.
